State-run mineral player, Gujarat Mineral Development Corporation Ltd (GMDC) has awarded 50 Mw of wind power project to Inox Wind Limited to set up Wind park at Rojmal in Gujarat.

GMDC has the installed wind generating capacity of 150 Mw in Gujarat.

As part of the turnkey order, Inox will supply and install 25 units of its advanced 2Mw DFIG 100 rotor dia Wind Turbine Generators (WTGs) for GMDC. The 100 rotor dia WTG has one of the highest swept areas, that makes it ideally suited to maximise returns, especially in low wind areas, an official statement said.

The 50 Mw project is GMDC’s first order with Inox Wind and will be part of the “Inox Wind Park” of 400 Mw capacity at Rojmal, one of many such “Wind Parks” being developed by Inox across the country.

Inox will be responsible for the entire project lifecycle including wind resource assessment, building the power evacuation system, acquiring land, developing the entire site infrastructure, supplying the WTGs, erection and commissioning services as well as providing long term operations and maintenance services to GMDC.

“The order has further boosted Inox’s strong order book with major institutions in the country,” said Kailash Tarachandani, Chief Executive Officer of Inox Wind Limited in his statement.
