The IPL-5 final between two-time winners Chennai Super Kings and Kolkata Knight Riders is a complete sell-out.
With the three earlier unopened stands (accounting for 12,000 seats) being made available for the final, there was a mad scramble for last minute tickets. All the premium air-conditioned hospitality boxes, which each seat around 190 each, are also sold out.
The three stands had been closed since August last year over an environmental clearance issue. The Madras High Court had granted an interim injunction for a week, allowing the IPL-5 to host a full house.
The M.A. Chidambaram stadium was renovated last year. The previous seating capacity at the stadium was 36,000. Post-renovation, the total capacity at the stadium stands at 45,000.
The winning team will walk away with prize money of $2 million, while the runners-up will get $1.5 million.
