The Andhra Pradesh Government inaugurated a new Automobile Skill Training Centre (ASTC), supported by Isuzu Motors India and Mitsubishi Corporation India, at Government Industrial Training Institute (ITI) in Tirupati today.

The ASTC will impart training on best practices in the areas of automobile engineering and technology, enabling employment opportunities for the youth in the region. The inauguration of the ASTC comes a day ahead of the launch of the Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana, the flagship scheme by the Central Government to impart skill training to the youth in the country.

The training centre aims to align supply with demand, bridging existing skill gaps, promoting industry engagement, operationalise quality assurance framework and leverage technology in the automobile industry.

Ghanta Subbarao, Secretary Department of Skill Development, Andhra Pradesh and K. Lakshminarayana, Founder Director, A.P State Skill Development Corporation, inaugurated the centre.

Shigeru Wakabayashi, Deputy Managing Director, Isuzu Motors India, said, “Isuzu is known for its manufacturing prowess. Named after the holy Isuzu River in Japan, it has been successfully producing good vehicles and human resource for decades to serve the people all over the world.”

“Our manufacturing plant in Sri City near Tirupati will soon begin its operations and Isuzu will become a leading vehicle producer in the Indian market,” Wakabayashi added.
