Commercial vehicle major, Isuzu Motors India Pvt Ltd, a subsidiary of Isuzu Motors, Japan plans to invest about Rs 3,000 crore to set up manufacturing facility in Sricity in Andhra Pradesh. The company will manufacture SUVs and pick-up trucks at the proposed new plant.

The new manufacturing facility at Sricity will have initial capacity to manufacture 50,000 units per annum, which will be scaled up to 120,000 units by 2020. The land for the proposed plant was procured in 2013 and work is going on for setting up the plant, which the company plans to commission by 2016.

Currently, the company is using manufacturing facility of Hindustan Motors Ltd to manufacture about 5,000 units per annum.

After the commissioning of the manufacturing facility, the Japanese major plans to launch more varients in the pick up segment.

"We are extremely glad to be here today, as we believe the market offers us a great opportunity to intensify our reach in the country," said Takashi Kikuchi, Managing Director, Isuzu Motors India during the launch of Ahmedabad dealership in on Friday.

The company currently has three varients in the pickup truck, which is priced at Rs 6.54 lakh (ex-showroom Ahmedabad).

Besides the pickup trucks, the company is also focusing on its diesel-engine based SUV - MU-17 priced from Rs 21.48 lakhs onwards in Ahmedabad.

In order to strengrthen its presence in key markets, Isuzu plans to open 60 outlets across India by end of 2015-16.

The company has already established presence across nine states in India including Delhi, Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Karnataka and Uttar Pradesh.
