Cigarettes to hotels major ITC Ltd has introduced a product availability tracking facility for its consumers.
The facility allows a consumer to call on a given number to help him/ her locate the availability of a particular ITC product nearby, Y.C. Deveshwar, Chairman, ITC, told shareholders during the 102nd AGM here in the city.
He was responding to shareholder queries on the non-availability of select ITC products.
According to Deveshwar, the company would also not enter into organised retail. Organised retailers were ITC’s customers and the company had no intention “of competing with its consumers”.
“Organised retailers would then (if ITC competes with them) give us a step-motherly treatment. We will not compete in the business of our customers,” he said.
Meanwhile, the ITC Chairman maintained that acquisition plans have been kept on hold following the absence of good brands.
