A four-member investigation team from Kolkata flew to Hyderabad to questions officials of IVRCL at its corporate office in Banjara Hills here on Friday.
Following the collapse of the under-construction Vivekanada flyover in Kolkata, in which 24 people were killed , the police has reportedly filed cases against the contactor (IVRCL) under Section 304 IPC (Culpable homicide not amounting to murder) and 308 (attempt to commit culpable homicide), read with other section of the penal code.
While some of the IVRCL officials, who flew to Kolkata to facilitate investigation, have been detained by cops there, investigation is now underway.
Earlier in the day, officials of IVRCL said all the members of the company are ready to cooperate with the investigation. K Panduranga Rao, Head of HR, IVRCL, and its legal head P Sita expressed shock at the incident and denied using any sub-standard material in the construction.
“IVRCL regrets and expresses deep sympathies for the victims of the incident. Investigation is in progress, the cause of the accident is yet to be ascertained,” Sita said. “There was no negligence on the part of the company. We are also shocked. We still do not know the reasons for the mishap and the company teams are in the process of analysing the reasons for such a collapse,” she said. The delay in execution of the project was due to the failure of the Government to extend clearances to execute the project, the company said.
Meanwhile, IVRCL shares to continued slide and closed at ₹5.77, down 10 per cent, on the BSE on Friday.
