Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) has announced that the Range Rover Evoque will be made locally at its Pune manufacturing facility.
This will be the fourth vehicle to be made at the plant joining the Freelander 2, Jaguar XF and XJ.
Deliveries of the locally-manufactured Range Rover Evoque are expected to begin from early April.
Production at the Pune plant has tripled since its inauguration in 2011, and the new development is part of JLR’s plan to expand its production capacity outside of the UK, the company said in a statement.
“This will enable us to access a wider audience which consists of discerning and premium Indian customers who have always loved the brand, aspired to own this SUV and be seen in it,” Rohit Suri, President, JLR India, said.
The award-winning Range Rover Evoque will be available in a 2.2 litre SD4 diesel engine, delivering a maximum power output of 140 kW @ 3,500 rpm and maximum torque of 420 Nm @ 2,000 rpm. It will be offered in three derivatives: Pure, Dynamic and Prestige.
Ex-showroom (Mumbai, pre-octroi) prices for the three derivatives are Rs 48.73 lakh, Rs 52.40 lakh and Rs 56.21 lakh respectively.
All derivatives come with automatic transmission and include standard features like front and rear parking sensors with rear view camera, navigation system, fixed panoramic sunroof and Land Rover’s state of the art Terrain Response System.
India is one of Jaguar Land Rover’s top 20 markets globally with sales increasing by 20 per cent in the last three years. The company has had a presence in India since 2009 and snow has a dealer network of 22 outlets across 20 cities.
