Seiji Baba, Consul General of Japan in Chennai, inaugurated the Unicharm India's new production plant at Sri City.
Unicharm India is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Unicharm Corporation, a Japanese manufacturing company engaged in health and hygiene products. The plant was set up with an investment of Rs 300 crore.
Takahisa Takahara, President & CEO, Unicharm Corporation and Yukihiro Kimura, Managing Director, Unicharm India, were among those present on the occasion.
Takahisa Takahara in a statement said the plant in Sri City would enable the company to expand business in India.
"Sri City offers world class infrastructure facilities. Its proximity to international air and sea ports will greatly facilitate our imports and exports. Availability of land at is an additional advantage for expanding our plant in phases", he added. Ravindra Sannareddy, Managing Director, Sri City said a production plant of this scale will certainly create plenty of jobs to the local people.
