Jaypee Cement Corporation has won the Majra coal mine on Thursday at a price of Rs 1,230 a tonne.
The mine in Maharasthra has 14.92 million tonne of extractable reserves and Jaypee's bid beat the likes of ACC Cement, JK Lakshmi Cement and others. Jaypee Cement Corporation had won the Mandla South coal mine in the second round of auctions while its parent Jaiprakash Associates Ltd won the Mandla North coal mine.
This was the final coal mine of the third tranche of auctions. Originally, 10 mines were supposed to be auctioned. However, four were withdrawn due to lack of bids and three more were withdrawn due to ongoing litigations.
