Jindal Steel and Power Ltd (JSPL) has commissioned its third unit of 135 MW at Dongamahua, Raigarh, in Chhattisgarh, which has increased its total power generation capacity to 917 MW.
JSPL is setting up a total of 10 units of 135 MW each, of which six are at Angul in Orissa and four at Raigarh in Chhattisgarh, the company said in a note to the Bombay Stock Exchange.
With the commissioning of third unit in Raigarh on January 1, a total of four units have started commercial operations. In October 2011, JSPL had said it would commission seven units of 135 MW by the end of the current financial year.
The JSPL stock ended 3 per cent down at Rs 466.25 on the BSE on Friday. The power business accounts for 30 per cent of JSPL's revenues, while the steel business accounts for the rest. JSPL reported a consolidated net profit of Rs 395.79 crore on revenues of Rs 3,338 crore for the September quarter.
