Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) on Friday launched its new version of sports utility vehicle Range Rover priced at Rs 1.72 crore (ex-showroom Delhi), which may go up to Rs 1.90 crore, depending upon specifications and variants.

The latest SUV from the Tata owned JLR will be available in both petrol and diesel variants. Both the variants will carry V8 engines with the petrol version powered by 5 litre and the diesel one with 4.4 litre respectively.

“It's clever design and revolutionary lightweight construction will give Indian customers a product that will cope with the most difficult of terrains and provide a step change in comfort, refinement and handling,” Rohit Suri, Vice President, JLR India said.

As per its plan to strengthen presence in the Indian market he said the company will look at launching smaller luxury SUVs to compete with BMW’s X1 and Audi’s Q3.

“We are looking at smaller categories of vehicles and products are at initial planning stages. It is a very important and dominant segment and we are considering entering that segment,” he said.

The company will also expand its dealership network to 25 by the end of next year from 15 right now, with a focus on tier II cities like Chandigarh and Bhuvaneshwar, he added.
