Jindal Steel and Power Ltd today said displaced families in its mining areas have been issued patta (Record of Right) over resettled land in a record four months as exemplary support was extended by the Angul district administration in Odisha.

Of the 169 families resettled in the Resettlement & Rehabilitation Colony at Bada Mahitala, 166 families have been issued patta for their settled land of acre 0.10 each in the colony, senior company officials said.

Under the R & R Policy of Odisha government 2006, each extended family has been resettled on acre 0.10 land on a construction area of 452 sq ft, they said.

Also provided are facilities like infrastructure, including approach road, electricity and water supply and school and their quality of life is being addressed through preventive and curative health camps, sustainable livelihood options, quality education, cultural bonding and permanent employment opportunities for each family.

Displaced families of Majhi Sahi (Golagadia), identified for mining activities who have shifted and resettled voluntarily in the R&R colony at Bada Mahitala, received patta yesterday from CK Mitra, Vice-President (Mines) and PK Hota, Vice-President (CC&CSR), JSPL.

JSPL’s Executive Director, Dinesh Kumar Saraogi said: “The displaced families are part of our extended family, and issuance of Patta (RoR) is a big milestone achieved in the process of implementation of the R&R Policy of JSPL”.

PK Hota, VP (CC&CSR), said, “This has been perhaps the fastest process of handing over pattas to the PDFs, as it has been completed within just four months, for which we express our gratitude to the district administration.”

The rest of the PDFs of this mining project would be rehabilitated in the R&R Colony coming up at Phuljhari and Parang in near future, sources said.
