With rupee falling, steel major JSW aims to export at least 58 per cent more in the current fiscal. At the same time, the company has indicated that it will also bid for Stemcor.
"We hope to export at least 3 million tonnes. We are also going to new markets such as China, Japan, Korea and US,'' Seshagiri Rao MVS, Joint Managing Director and Group CFO, JSW Steel, told reporters here.
The company exported 1.9 mt in 2012-13. It plans to increase its sales to 12.5 mt in 2013-14 from 11.5 mt. Since steel demand is flat or going down, it would be better to focus on exports, Rao said.
