JSW Cement is all set to double its production capacity by March 2013 as it commissions two more mills that have already been installed.
“The commissioning of the plants will help us increase production from 2 lakh tonnes per month to four lakh tonnes per month. This will enable us to double our revenues by the next financial year to Rs 2,200 crore,” R.C. Sodhani Director and Chief Executive Officer JSW Cement said.
Addressing a press conference here, the CEO said the production capacity would go up to 4.8 million tonnes per annum at the Nandyal plant in Andhra Pradesh. With the Bellary unit, the company would have a total capacity of 5.3 million tonnes per annum.
"The company is also in the process of setting up a slag cement plant in Bellary with an outlay of Rs 350 crore. The plant and machinery orders have been placed and we expect to commission this facility within 18 months of the arrival of equipment," he said.
"We have applied for necessary clearances from the Karnataka Government and the Ministry of Environment and Forests for setting up a 4.3 MT cement plant in Gulbarga at an outlay of Rs 1,500 crore. But the overall plan is to take the capacity up to 20 MT by 2020," he said.
Referring to the growing input costs of materials, logistics and power, he said all cement manufacturers are under pressure. "Cement prices are based on the demand-supply situation but the input cost and taxes cause concern. We see prices firming up further by the next financial year," he said.
The company uses steel plant generated slag for production of cement, thereby, bringing down the overall use of limestone.
JSW Cement has been conferred the Greentech Environment Excellence Gold award.
