Higher sales and lower coal prices helped JSW Energy nearly double its net profit to ₹319 crore for the quarter ended September 30, compared with ₹163 crore a year ago.
Total income for the quarter was ₹2,372 crore, against ₹2,080 crore in the year-earlier period.
The company reported its highest-ever quarterly net power generation of 5,236 million units in the quarter (4,352 million units). The plant load factor, at 87 per cent for the quarter (76 per cent) improved primarily due to a pick-up in demand, the company said in a release.
Operating profit was up 9 per cent at ₹969 crore, from ₹893 crore a year ago. This was due to higher volumes and settlement of claims by project creditors. Fuel cost, at ₹1,224 crore, was higher by 19 per cent on account of increased generation. However, it was partly offset by lower coal prices, the company said.
As of September 30, JSW Energy’s consolidated net worth was ₹7,207 crore and consolidated debt ₹9,644 crore, which represents a debt-to-equity ratio of 1.34.
