JSW Energy plans to add 1,110-MW new power generation capacity in the current fiscal, which will make it produce a total of 3,140 MW by March 2012.
“This will be achieved by the commissioning of 300 MW at Ratnagiri, Maharashtra and 810 MW at Barmer in Rajasthan,” the company Chairman, Mr Sajjan Jindal, said here today, while addressing the annual general meeting of the shareholders.
He added that the company plans to commence work on 1,860-MW power projects during the current fiscal, including a 1,320-MW thermal power project in Kukurda, Chhattisgarh.
Talking about the company’s joint venture with Toshiba for production of equipment, Mr Jindal said: “the facilities to produce supercritical steam turbine and generators are expected to start in the current fiscal.’’
Besides this, he said mining activities in South African Coal Mining Holding Ltd, where the company has a stake of over 61 per cent, has commenced.
The JSW Energy Chairman, however, cautioned that issues like land acquisition, fuel availability, timely approvals and slow pace of reforms in transmission and distribution segments need to be addressed urgently by the Government, to continue the momentum of the sector.
