JSW Steel on Friday reported an increase of 2 per cent in October crude steel production at 5.7 lakh tonnes over the corresponding month last year.
The company had produced 5.59 lakh tonnes crude steel in the year-ago period.
JSW Steel said its Vijaynagar plant could utilise only 67 per cent of its installed capacity due to shortage of iron ore.
“Even though the company procured iron ore through e-auctions, the availability of ore at plant remains a bottleneck due to procedural delays and logistics constrains in movement of ore,” it said in a statement.
The company had produced 17.38 lakh tonnes crude steel in the second quarter of the current fiscal.
