JSW Steel has reported that its crude steel production jumped 40 per cent in May to 10 lakh tonnes after the amalgamation of its subsidiaries with itself.
The company’s composite scheme of amalgamation and arrangement with JSW Ispat Steel, JSW Building System and JSW Steel Coated Products was approved by the Bombay High Court recently.
Since the appointed date for the scheme was July 1, 2012, the production numbers for May 2012 did not include the production of Dolvi (of JSW Ispat Steel in Maharashtra) unit, said the company in a statement on Monday.
Flat steel production was up 57 per cent at 8.06 lakh tonnes (5.12 lakh tonnes), while that of long product was up 13 per cent at 1.68 lakh tonnes (1.49 lakh tonnes).
Shares of the company were up 0.84 per cent at Rs 691 on Monday.
