Kalyani Group has set up a Centre of Excellence in RF and Microwave Engineering in the IT hub of Gachibowli here seeking to train highly skilled professionals in this space. Rudra B Jadeja Chief Executive, Bharat Forge, told Business Line “the centre is aimed at bridging the skill gap in a specialised sector seen to have immense potential for growth.”
The diversified group, which has forayed into the aerospace and defence sector with several new initiatives is also in the process of setting up of a Missles MRO (maintenance, repair and overhaul) centre in Hyderabad. “Over the years the country has a number of missile systems procured from various sources. We now need specialised facilities for their maintenance, repair and overhaul. And the proposed facility, which seeks to address this space, is set to be inaugurated within 15-20 days,” he said.
The Group began its journey in the aerospace and defence segment by opening a manufacturing facility for missiles seeking to bridge the gaps in the strategic sector. Thereafter, it established a Department of Scientific and Industrial Research (DSIR) approved research and development centre in the specialised area of Radio Frequency Seekers in the missile segment.
“As a next step to consolidate our presence in the aerospace and defence segment, we are setting up this Centre of Excellence in the areas of radio frequency and microwave technology. This is part of Group chairman Baba Saheb Kalyani‘s vision of bridging the gaps in technology learning,” he said. As part of this initiatives and with support of Telangana Academy for Skill and Knowledge, a CSR effort, this centre of excellence has been established.
To start with, a 10 month curriculum shall be adopted for the challenging technology of Radio-Frequency and Microwave Technology for training B. Tech and M. Tech student to enhance and improve their and make them industry ready. Initially a group of 15 students would be trained by domestic and international experts in the RF Technology domain. The ecosystems would also be provided to find suitable employment post training session. The training provided would encompass product development challenges and to apply the learning on RF Technology Domain.
