KEC International, the flagship firm of Harsh Goenka’s RPG Group, has put a seven-acre plot in Thane on the block.

Formerly housing its cable manufacturing facility, the plot is likely to be purchased by Tata Housing for ₹210 crore, sources said. .

“The due-diligence has been on for the last three months, and the deal is likely to be concluded this month,” a person close to the development said, requesting anonymity.

Other options Responding to an e-mail questionnaire, a KEC International spokesperson said: “We have approximately seven acres in Thane where we had our cable manufacturing facility.

“The facility is now relocated to Vadodara, and we are exploring various options to deal with this land, including disposing it of.”

KEC, an engineering, procurement and construction company, reported a 35 per cent year-on-year drop in net profit for the quarter ended December 31, because of higher tax expenses.

Net profit for the quarter was at ₹19.15 crore, compared with ₹29.33 crore a year ago.

Responding to a query, Tata Housing maintained that though it had not signed any new land deal yet, it was actively exploring land parcels.

“Tata Housing has aggressive growth plans for (the) next three to five years, and we keep exploring multiple land options to expand our presence in various parts of the country,” a spokesperson said.

Currently, Tata Housing has four projects lined up in Mumbai – at Mulund, Kalyan, Boisar and Vasind surburb – and has a pan-India launch pipeline of eight to 10 projects for the next 12 to 18 months.
