K-Air, a provider of new and pre-owned jets and helicopter, has signed memorandum of understanding (MOUs) with corporate jet makers for selling Falcon 2000, Gulfstream G200 and the Augusta 109 Grand helicopter in India. “We are talking with the companies for pre-buy inspection of the helicopter. The two other aircraft are likely to reach India before the end of second quarter,” Capt Robin Cherian, Director, K-Air told BusinessLine .
The company set up in 2005 at Kochi, K-Air has been selling new and pre-owned jets and helicopter, offering corporate consultancy in aviation space. The company has so far has placed over 11 aircraft in the last 18 months through acquisition.
Cherian said due to growing interest towards luxury products fuelling demand for business jets, he is negotiating between corporates and their partners. “We are getting more enquiries from cities such as Lucknow, Kanpur, Bhopal and Kochi. The common point being that they have the best of the cars, they still have to travel 4-6 hours negotiating road conditions and traffic,” Cherian pointed out.
At present the potential is untapped except few corporates in South India who are furthering their business across India but have not leveraged Aviation as a tool. “Some of them such as Joy Allukkas and Shobha Purvankara have realized the importance of the age old proverb; time is money and purchased jets to further their business,” said Cherian.
Lately, we see more companies talking to us, to assess the benefits of owning a plane or as we like to say it “Owning your time”, he added.
