Television and electronics maker, Super Plastronics Private Limited (SPPL) to bring Kodak HD LED TVs in the Indian market. The company will initially launch the Kodak HD TVs in Gujarat, and take it to other markets in the country over the time.
The Original Equipment Maker (OEM) for three national TV brands, SPPL is a Kodak brand licencee for India. The company has three manufacturing facilities across India located at Himachal Pradesh, Noida and Jammu. The combined manufacturing capacity of the company is 30,000 units per month.
The company is now considering to set up manufacturing facility for Kodak LED TV in Gujarat with an investment of Rs 300 crore over the next 3-5 years.
“As an OEM player we are currently making LED TVs for three national brands. Looking at the response to the Kodak LED TV, we will decide to set up Gujarat plant. We are confident to invest in the state as we are planning to expand our manufacturing base from north India to West India,” said Avneet Singh Marwah, director, SPPL. The company currently sources most of the inputs for the TV through local suppliers.
The company has already started marketing Kodak brand of LED TVs through online channels. “We are currently, selling only online with a starting price of Rs 13,500-14,000. From tomorrow onwards we will also sell these TVs through offline stores of our dealers and distributors in Gujarat. The pricing will be more attractive than the online prices,” added Marwah. The models will be available in 32-inch, 40-inch, 50-inch and 55-inch variants.
Marwah further mentioned that the company looks to achieve 10 per cent market share in the Gujarat market by the year 2020. “Kodak has one of the highest recall value. And we are confident to get good response in the offline sales as we have sold nearly 10,000 units online within three months,” he said.
