Karnataka Vikas Grameena Bank (KVG Bank), a Dharwad-based regional rural bank (RRB), which is a corporate agent of Life Insurance Corporation (LIC), has canvassed more than 1,000 policies with a premium of Rs 1 crore.
Ashok Reddy Nukala, Chairman, KVG Bank, said that the bank has initaited a week-long campaign – ‘Beat the Heat’ in association with LIC in Dharwad.
The campaign is for educating the common man about life insurance and its products and the campaign is expected to continue till May 31.
Reddy revealed that the bank is contemplating of linking health insurance to one of the popular loan products of the bank - ‘Vikas Janashakti’ which provides loans at the door step of the customers.
He further said that even two to three days of hospitalisation costs about Rs 25,000 which is beyond the reach of many poor families. Many a times they are forced to sell the family jewellery to meet medical expenses in the absence of health insurance cover.
