Chennai-based Kwality Milk Foods has launched a range of products, including milk shakes and flavoured milk, to compete mainly with Cavins Milk, from city-based CavinKare in this segment.

“Our milk shakes are thicker with 4.5 per cent fat content, while competing products have 3 per cent,” said Rajiv Khanna, Managing Director, Kwality Milk Foods.

The company also launched canned drinks and malt-based foods under brand name Molto.

Kwality Milk has invested around ₹12 crore to develop a new range of products. Milk shakes will be available in three flavours – vanilla, strawberry and chocolate. In flavoured milk, initially three flavours – badam milk, strawberry delight and chocolate treat – were launched.

To begin with, flavoured milk will be sold in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and parts of Andhra Pradesh, and will be expanded to all southern states. The company plans to start exporting badam milk to West Asia in two months, he said.

The company has a milk handling capacity of around 2.25 lakh litres a day. It has a composite milk processing plant in Kanchipuram to manufacture a variety of dairy products, including skimmed milk powder, dairy whitener, curd/yoghurt, buttermilk, lassi, butter, sweetened condensed milk, paneer and ghee.

So far, the cumulative investment in the company’s operations is around ₹30 crore, he said.
