Kerala Tourism's promotional film ‘Your Moment is Waiting' has won the Golden City Gate award, dubbed the Oscar of travel industry.

The ad film bagged one of the three awards for grabs for TV commercial films in three categories at ITB Berlin, a leading travel trade show, last week.

The awards were presented during the Golden City Gate competition in Berlin during March 9-13.

SIX CATEGORIES

“We are honoured. This is the second time Kerala Tourism has received this prestigious award,” said Mr M. Sivasankar, Director, Kerala Tourism.

He received the award, which recognises the best in tourism advertising, from Mr Wolfgang Jo Huschert, President of the Golden City Gate jury.

There were six categories in the competition: City tourism, Hotel, Region, Economy, Spots and Commercials and TV-Travel Magazine.

The winners were picked by an international jury that considered visual performance, acoustic overall impression, emotional effect, value of information, conception and creativity, an official spokesman said here.

WIDE SPECTRUM

The members of the jury were themselves selected from across a wide spectrum of enterprise ranging from tourism, hotel and city-marketing, public relations, music, art, advertising agencies, managers of tourist offices, business and individual travellers, ministers and ambassadors.

‘Your Moment is Waiting', the three-minute ad film, was premiered in London in September last year.

It claimed an unprecedented three Pacific Asia Travel Association Gold Awards last month in Marketing - Secondary Government Destination; Marketing Media - Travel Advertisement Broadcast Media; and Marketing Media - Public Relations categories.

Directed by Vodafone ‘Zoo-Zoo' ad fame Prakash Varma, ‘Your Moment is Waiting' was conceived by Stark Communications which manages the international marketing and promotion of Kerala Tourism.

Kerala Tourism had earlier won the Golden City Gate award for its ‘Slice-of-Life' campaign in 2007.

At the ITB Berlin this year, the Kerala Tourism stall spread over 120 sq. m and saw participation by 20 co-exhibitors. The theme of the stall was Kerala's famous backwaters.

In February, Kerala had also won the ‘Favourite Indian State' award at the Outlook Traveller tourism awards 2010.
