The construction arm of L&T has won orders worth Rs 1,329 crore across three business segments – smart world communication, transportation infrastructure and water and effluent treatment.
The unit has bagged an order worth Rs 138 crore from Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Ltd for design, manufacture, supply, installation, testing and commissioning of telecommunication systems for the extension of Bangalore Metro Phase-1.
The scope of work includes public address systems, passenger information display, master clocks, centralised data recording, tetra radio communication, fibre optic transmission network, CCTV surveillance and telecom supervisory control and data acquisition systems.
The unit is also executing similar works for Lucknow Metro, Nagpur Metro and Metro-Link Express for Gandhinagar and Ahmedabad.
The company has also bagged an order worth Rs 710 crore in water and effluent treatment business. A design and build order has been secured from Public Works Authority (ASHGHAL), Qatar for the execution of 30 mld Industrial Area Sewage Treatment Works Phase III A.
The scope covers design, engineering, procurement, construction, testing and commissioning with advanced treatment technology and high-end control and automation. This is the 3rd consecutive order from ASHGHAL for water business, following the successful completion of Doha South & Al Shamal Sewage Treatment works.
In the transportation infrastructure business, the company has won an order worth Rs 481 crore. The railways business unit of transportation infrastructure business vertical has won a design and build order from Dedicated Freight Corridor Corporation of India Ltd, a special purpose vehicle of the Indian Railways, mandated to build dedicated freight corridors.
The scope involves 2x25 KV overhead electrification, signalling and telecommunication and associated works in Mughalsarai to New Sonnagar and Chirailapathu section (70.3 RKM / 147.6 TKM) of the Eastern Dedicated Freight Corridor.
The L&T unit is already executing systems works contract for the New Karwandiya – New Durgauti Section (66 RKM/133 TKM) and electrification works for the adjacent Mughalsarai – Bhaupur Section (CP 204; 417RKM/881 TKM). It will also be working on the electrification of a large 550-km long continuous section of eastern dedicated freight corridor from Kanpurto New Sonnagar.
