The Water & Effluent Treatment Business of Larsen & Toubro’s construction vertical has secured several orders from government agencies and municipal corporations across three states in India.
The company has classified the order inflow as “major” which, according to the new order value classification introduced by L&T since the beginning of this quarter, is in the range from ₹ 5,000 crore to ₹. 7,000 crore. The company has stopped its practice of disclosing order values under pressure from increasing competition.
In Tamil Nadu, the business has secured two orders from the Water Resources Department of Tamil Nadu government.
One order is for the execution of the Athikadavu-Avinashi Scheme proposed to alleviate the plight of farmers in drought-prone areas of the Coimbatore, Tirupur and Erode districts.
When completed, the Athikadavu-Avinashi scheme is expected to benefit a total of 9,902 hectares o, L&T said in a statement.
The second order from the state government is for the construction of a new regulator across the southern and northern arms of the Coleroon river on the downstream side of the existing regulator at Mukkombu (Upper Anaicut) near Tiruchirappalli.
Another order in the state has been received from the Vellore Municipal Corporation in Tamil Nadu for providing an Underground Sewerage Collection system to the newly added areas of the Vellore City Municipal Corporation – Phase III under the AMRUT scheme. The project scope involves providing sewer network of about 280 km, construction of sewage pumping and lifting stations and will benefit 28,200 households in the corporation area with sewer connections.
In Jharkhand, L&T business has won two EPC orders.
The first order received from the state’s Water and Resources Department is for the execution of the Garwah Lift Irrigation Scheme. The Garwah Lift Irrigation Scheme proposes to recharge the ground water resources by filling 366 ponds and other water bodies in the Garwah district, to help farmers in a command area of approximately 51,628 hectares.
The second order is from Jharkhand Urban Infrastructure Development Co Ltd (JUIDCO). The contract is for integrated infrastructure development works which includes waste water systems, storm water drainage, water supply and recycle water systems, transport and circulation as well as power infrastructure, smart street lighting systems, and land development in Ranchi Smart City.
In Odisha, L&T business has got a repeat order from the Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Department for the execution of an Individual Rural Water Supply Project in the Boudh district of Odisha. The project will cater to the drinking water requirement of 747 villages in the district.
L&T business has also secured an order from the Water Resources Department, Government of Odisha for executing a Mega Lift Irrigation Project Cluster IV (MLIP Cluster IV). The scope of work under this contract includes execution of 9 lift irrigation schemes with intake points in the Mahanadi river for a cultivable command area of 12,900 hectares in districts of Sambalpur and Sonepur on a turnkey basis.
