L&T Construction bags irrigation, water supply orders worth Rs 5,704 cr

Infrastructure major Larsen & Toubro (L&T) has announced its Water and Effluent Treatment business, a part of L&T Construction, has secured orders worth Rs 5,704 crore for irrigation and water supply works in Madhya Pradesh.

Two major orders from Narmada Valley Development Authority (NVDA), government of Madhya Pradesh, are for execution of the Indira Sagar Project – Parwati Phases I & II and Kalisindh Phase I Micro Lift Irrigation Schemes, the company said in a statement.

The project will provide water for micro-irrigation to 2 lakh hectares of Culturable Command Area in Dewas, Sehore and Shajapur districts of Madhya Pradesh, by lifting 32.04 cumecs of water from the Indira Sagar Project reservoir, it added. The scope of work includes survey, design, procurement, construction and installation of pumping systems, rising mains, transmission and distribution pipeline networks, electrical power transmission line and automation system by SCADA.

L&T’s unit has also received an EPC order from the Madhya Pradesh Jal Nigam Maryadit for the execution of the Buxwaha Multi Village Rural Water Supply Scheme. The project will cover 299 villages of Sahgarh, Banda, Buxwaha, Batiyagarh, Bijwar and Hatta blocks in the Districts of Sagar, Chhatarpur and Damoh of Madhya Pradesh.

The scope of the contract includes design, supply and installation of pipelines, design and construction of intake well, water treatment plant, pump houses, master balancing reservoirs and other structures as well as operation and maintenance for ten years.
