Spanish luxury brand Lladro, focused on handcrafted porcelain sculptures, has introduced limited edition Lord Shiva figurine made in high porcelain and is working on the epic Mahabharata scene.

Building on the India series developed back home, these crafted and hand painted sculptures include Goddess Lakshmi, Lord Ganesha, Ram Darbar and Goddess Saraswathi, apart from popular Ganesha figurines, all made in porcelain.

Along with porcelain figurines, Lladro has built a portfolio of lighting systems and mirrors which complement the sculptures. These include chandeliers.

Nikhil Lamba, Chief Operating Officer, Lladro India, said the launch of Shiva coincides with a new format boutique in Hyderabad, which is similar to the one in New York. Lord Shiva's attributes are finely worked symbolising his power. The snake that Parvati tied to around his neck to stop him from swallowing poison, the Rudraksh band bring to the fore artistic and sculpting skills of artisans.

The limited edition of Shiva will feature 720 pieces.

The Lladro's by far the costliest masterpiece, Queen of the Nile (Rs 1.65 crore) of 100 pieces, has been sold out with only one piece remaining in one of the stores in India. Lladro currently has a chain of 8 stores in India, the one in Hyderabad has been relocated to new facility.

Interacting with Business Line in the new Boutique located in Taj Krishna here, Lamba said the design of new boutiques is driven by the Lladro family's creative vision in conjugation with Spanish designer Jaime Hayon.

Coinciding with the festive season, Lladro also has smaller Lakshmi sculptures crafted based on feedback from its customers.
