Madura Fashion and Lifestyle Retail Ltd has extended its Planet Fashion brand to a new offering that will cater to a family's shopping needs.

Called Planet Fashion Grande, the new format size is between 10,000 and 25,000 sq ft and offers entire wardrobe solutions.

“As retailers, we want to be customer-centric and offer what customers want. Hence, we have added brands in categories that are beyond Madura portfolio,” said Mr Shoaib Farooqi, COO, Planet Fashion, International Business and Trade Sales.

The store comprises four sections: International brands, male wedding section, women's wear and accessories and men's wear section. Brands such as Calvin Klein, Nautica, Esprit, Louis Philippe, Van Heusen, Allen Solly, Ritu Kumar, Satya Paul, Seven East and Levi's would be available at the stores.

The stores are expected to deliver profitability within a year. “Our business model centres around a large portion of the business coming out of the most successful in-house brands,” said Mr Farooqi.

Planet Fashion Grande's first store, located in Bangalore, would open its next outlet at Delhi. Mr Farooqi said the company would launch Grande outlets in 15 locations in the first year, but had identified 40 locations for expansion.

The company's flagship retail brand Planet Fashion has been in existence since 2001 and currently has 145 stores across 97 towns. PF stores, in size 2000 sq ft to 6000 sq ft, mainly offer menswear brands.
