Mahindra and Mahindra on Friday launched a digital technology platform called DiGiSense to mark the beginning of the company’s foray into fleet management for commercial vehicles, tractors and construction equipment.
The platform has been built in collaboration with Tech Mahindra, Bosch and Vodafone. The platform helps in real time tracking of the vehicles using a mobile app, while also monitoring fuel usage, driver’s performance and theft. It comes with features such as creating a virtual Geo-Fencing for the tractors, which sends out alerts when the tractors move outside this designated virtual fence without the vehicle owner's permission.
DiGiSense will initially be available in the Jeeto and Imperio in the small commercial vehicles space, the Arjun Novo in the tractor space, the Mahindra Blazo in the heavy commercial vehicles space, and the Earthmaster in the construction equipment space. However, it will initially be available only with the higher end variants.
“The vehicles equipped with DiGiSense will cost about ₹5,000 to ₹10,000 more depending on the model. Eventually, we will make the platform available with all our vehicles,” said Pawan Goenka, Executive Director, Mahindra & Mahindra.
The vehicles will also come with a subscription fee that will be charged to the customers after one year of use, Goenka said. However, he insisted that at least in the near future, Mahindra would not look at monetising the DiGiSense platform.
