Mahindra & Mahindra today reported 1.29 per cent increase in total sales at 35,634 vehicles in August.
It had sold 35,180 units in the same month last year, M&M said in a statement.
In the domestic market, its sales were down 3.10 per cent to 32,122 units last month as against 33,150 units in August last year.
Exports were up 73 per cent at 3,512 vehicles as against 2,030 units in the same period a year ago.
Sales of passenger vehicles, including Scorpio, XUV 500, Xylo, Bolero and Verito, stood at 13,307 units as compared to 13,911 units in August 2014, down 4.34 per cent.
Commercial vehicle sales were up 5.05 per cent to 13,023 units last month against 12,396 units in the year—ago period, M&M said.
“While currently we are witnessing fragmented recovery in auto sales, we are hopeful that the upcoming festive season will provide a much needed fillip to the auto industry. Our export sales have grown with a record high of 73% compared to previous year,” M&M Chief Executive (Automotive Division) Pravin Shah said.
