Mahindra & Mahindra Group today announced a contribution of Rs 1 crore to the Uttarakhand Chief Minister’s Relief Fund to provide relief to flood affected victims in the state.
“We are shocked and grieved to learn of the unprecedented calamity and havoc created in Uttarakhand in the wake of the recent flash floods,” Mahindra Group Chairman Anand Mahindra said in a statement.
He added that the unprecedented human tragedy in the state called for a quick response in terms of relief for the stranded pilgrims and the unfortunate residents of the affected areas.
“This is a token donation from our company in response to the appeal by the state government,” Mahindra said.
Thousands of people are feared to have been killed in Uttarakhand due to flash floods caused by heavy rain. Hundreds of people are still stranded across the state waiting to be rescued.
