Mahindra & Mahindra launched its Verito Vibe, the sub 4-metre compact car, today.
Designed and developed in-house by Mahindra, the Verito Vibe marks Mahindra’s entry into the high volume compact car market.
The vehicle is powered by 1.5 litre Renault K9K diesel engine and claims to have a mileage of 21 km a litre. Ex-showroom Mumbai prices for the Verito Vibe D2 are Rs 5.63 lakh, for the Verito Vibe D4 is Rs 5.89 lakh and for the Verito Vibe D6 is Rs 6.49 lakh.
The decline in car sales across the country has also affected M&M, which is heavily dependent on diesel vehicles. Though domestic sales of the company was up 5.4 per cent, it reported 1.2 per cent decrease in its total sales at 43,460 units in May 2013. Exports too declined by 67 per cent at 1,356 units.
Pawan Goenka, President, Automotive and Farm Equipment Sectors, Mahindra & Mahindra, said the launch of the company's much awaited compact car is a milestone by itself "as the team deployed alternative thinking to deliver a high level of technology and performance at a competitive price''.
Pravin Shah, Chief Executive, Automotive Division, Mahindra & Mahindra noted in a statement, "Developed on the global and proven quality platform of the tried and tested Verito, the Vibe is well suited for Indian road conditions."
The new offering will be available in seven colours including the newly developed Aqua Rush and will be available in select Mahindra showrooms in major cities across the country.
