Mahindra Navistar Automotives Ltd today said the company plans to launch at least half-a-dozen customised trucks for specialised usage in mining, concrete mix, ambulances and haulage applications.

Mr Nalim Mehta, Managing Director, Mahindra Navistar, said the company will launch these across heavy commercial vehicle segments as the feedback from customers is that they prefer to have factory built solutions.

Addressing a press conference here today, Mr Mehta said the company recently achieved total sales of over 5,000 trucks in a short time since the launch and the focus now was on expanding the product portfolio, where factory built solutions would play an important role in generating volumes.

“In a market traditionally dominated by two major truck makers in the country, we have managed to quickly make inroads. By offering such integrated solutions useful for different business segments such as tippers, heavy haulage, concrete mix and cold storage, among others, we will be able to garner a bigger market pie," he said.

The company’s goal is to achieve sales of about 50,000 vehicles per annum by 2014-15.
