Mahindra Navistar Automotives Ltd (MNAL), a 51:49 joint venture of M&M Ltd and International Truck and Engine Corporation, the operative company of Navistar, today said it would expand its current full-scale dealerships from 35 to 100 across India in the next two years, and plans to achieve the sales of 50,000 trucks per annum, to equal the installed scalable capacity at its Chakan (Pune) manufacturing plant.
MNAL is also looking at marketing right-hand drive commercial vehicles in South Africa, an official said.
The third largest Indian trucking company also plans to increase its authorised service centres from 220 to 330, roadside assistance centres from 458 to 850 and the number of mobile service workshops from 29 to 58 over the next two years, said Mr Nalin Mehta, Managing Director, after the launch of a dealership here.
He said the commercial vehicle industry in India grew by 26 per cent in 2010-11 and is expected to further grow this year due to a projected 8.5 growth in GDP and a bumper crop, as demand has been intact despite increased interest rates.
MNAL, which has a 15 per cent market share in India, is also bracing to launch the 49-tonne commercial vehicle soon.
MNAL, whose Zahirabad (Hyderabad) plant manufactures 15-to-40 seater buses, would soon launch these products in the Gujarat market, Mr Mehta said.
