Mahindra Electric, a part of the Mahindra Group, on Thursday launched eVerito -- the electric version of its Verito sedan priced between ₹9.50 lakh and ₹10 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
The eVerito will be available in key cities, such as New Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Pune, Kolkata, Chandigarh, Hyderabad, Jaipur and Nagpur, with immediate effect with three variants – D2, D4 and D6.
Powered by the latest electric drive-train technology from Mahindra Electric, the direct drive single speed transmission eVerito can be charged at home in one hour and 45 minutes through fast charging technology. The car can run up to 110 km in a full charge and has a maximum speed of 86 km/hr. The eVerito has features such as Revive, the company said. On the rare occasion that the car runs low on energy, Revive can be activated to gain an extra 8 km range to help the user reach home or the nearest charging station, the company said.
“With issues like environmental degradation, pollution-related challenges, climate change and energy security, there has never been a better time to switch to electric vehicles,” said Pravin Shah, President and Chief (Automotive), M&M. He said the company had invested ₹67 crore on developing this car (with the new technology) and was also working on launching eSupro, the electric version of its mini-van Supro. However, he declined to give further details and date of the launch.
Asked about such technologies, which is still expensive and has low infrastructure, Shah said, ‘any change takes its own time,’ but also said that Mahindra is looking at developing bigger electric vehicles such as buses and trucks.
