Mahindra & Mahindra, a part of the $15.4-billion Mahindra Group, will launch high-end sports utility vehicle SsangYong Rexton in India on October 17.
Rexton is the first product from Ssangyong’s product portfolio to be launched in India since Mahindra and Mahindra (M&M) acquired the Korean company in March last year. The Rexton is available across 66 countries around the world, including markets such as Korea, Europe and Russia.
“The Rexton will be the first sports utility vehicle from the SsangYong portfolio brought to the Indian market by Mahindra.
With the launch of the SsangYong Rexton, we hope to further expand the Mahindra presence in the high-end SUV segment,” said Pawan Goenka, President, Automotive and Farm Equipment Sectors, Mahindra and Mahindra.
Goenka is also the Chairman of SsangYong Motor Company.
The national launch in Mumbai would be followed by launches in Delhi and Bangalore and a phase-wise roll out in other markets. Founded in 1954, Ssangyong Motor Company is based in Pyeongtaek, South Korea, and is a major player in the Korean utility vehicle market.
