Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd’s Farm Equipment Sector (FES) sold 16,552 vehicles in the domestic market, a 19 per cent increase from 13,944 units sold during the month a year ago.
The company’s overall sales rose 18 per cent to 17,592 units during month under review, the company said in a review.
“We have achieved a cumulative domestic growth of 23 per cent till February 2014. Tractor demand for FY’14 till date has been robust due to a favorable monsoon and higher minimum support prices. The shortage of labour at farms has given a boost to mechanisation resulting in higher demand for tractors,” said Rajesh Jejurikar, Chief Executive, Tractor and Farm Mechanisation at M&M.
