Mahindra & Mahindra’s Farm Equipment Sector (FES) has launched a four-wheel drive (4WD) tractor Arjun Novo, which was developed at its Mahindra Research Valley facility in Chennai.
The tractor, shipped with a 57 HP engine, comes with a 4WD axle that distributes equal amount of power to all four wheels. This allows it to tackle all kinds of terrain and work on all soil types and conditions, the company said in a statement.
The new tractor can be used for a range of applications, such as harvesting, straw reaping, puddling, haulage, agricultural material handling, among others. It is suited for wet cultivation and can be used with agriculture implements such as tractor-mounted combined harvester, gyrovator, dozers and loaders.
“This is the first 4WD offering from Mahindra and will make Arjun Novo even more versatile. The new variant offers multiple speed options, which is the highest number of speed options available in the category, thus setting a benchmark for the industry,” said Harish Chavan, Chief Operating Officer at M&M Farm Division.
The product is offered under a special introductory price for a limited period. However, the prices were not immediately disclosed.
Other features include a single hand-operated lever that enables reversing of the tractor at the same speed. With 30 speed (15 forward + 15 reverse) options, the tractor can reach speeds of up to 33.5 kmph.
