Mahindra & Mahindra on Wednesday unveiled— Bolero Maxi Truck Plus—a new variant in the small commercial pick—up category, with a view to tap the need of urban goods transportation.
The company enjoying dominant position in pick—up category sold 1,02,885 units (small and large pick—ups, excluding Maximo, in FY2012—13.
The market size for small and large pick—ups in India in FY2012—13 grew by 73 per cent at 1.90 lakh units, as per industry estimates.
In 2011—12 the market size for the segment stood at around 1.10 lakh units.
“The Indian pick—up market is growing more rapidly than ever before and Mahindra has been leading this category (2—3.5 Ton GVW LCV segment) with a 54 per cent market share in the last fiscal,” Mahindra & Mahindra Chief Marketing Officer Vivek Nayar said.
“We clocked 41 per cent growth in pick—ups with sales of 1,02,885 units, last year. In the year ago period we had sold 73,134 units in the segment,” he said.
Gujarat contributes nearly 10 per cent to national sales of M&M in the pick up segment. The company sales grew by 60 per cent in the segment in Gujarat last year, a company official said.
The company has installed annually capacity to manufacture around 1,35,00 small and large pick ups.
The vehicle fitted with engine of Bolero SUV comes in BS—III and IV variants. The ex—showroom price in Ahmedabad for BS—III is Rs 4.31 lakh and Rs 4.30 lakh for BS—IV variant.
