A couple of months ahead of its proposed launch, Mahindra & Mahindra on Thursday previewed two of its new “intelligent machines” here that it says would redefine motorcycles in their class.
These products would be commercially launched by March this year.
The growth of two-wheeler market in India, currently 8-10 per cent, is expected to go up further with a fall in the four-wheeler market, a senior official said.
Powered by indigenously developed MCi-5 (Micro Chip-ignited-5 Curve) engines, “Centuro” is protected by central locking anti-theft system with engine immobiliser and a remote 96-bit encrypted flip key that gives secure access to the motorcycle. It also has find-me lamps that help to easily locate the motorcycle even in crowded parking lots, said Anoop Mathur, President-Two Wheeler Sector and Member of the Group Executive Board, M&M Ltd.
Centuro also has guide lamps that continue to illuminate even after parking the bike, a distance-to-empty fuel calculator and bright LED tail and pilot lamps to enable clear visibility in all weather conditions.
The second product, Pantero, also powered by MCi-5, has the longest seat (774 mm) in the class. Its LED pilot and tail lamps provide added safety to the riders. Targeted at first-time buyers, the 110 cc machine having a fully-digital dashboard delivers a mileage of 79.5 km per litre.
