Mahindra & Mahindra’s February auto sales rose 11 per cent to 47,824 vehicles, compared with 43,087 units sold during the same month last year.
The passenger vehicles segment (which includes utility vehicles and Verito) sold 23,421 units during the period under review, a 41 per cent increase from 20,573 units sold in February 2012.
Its domestic sales rose 10 per cent to 44,399 units in February from 40,461 units sold in February 2012, the company said in statement.
The company sold 15,167 units under its four-wheeler commercial segment, which includes passenger and load vehicles, and 4,803 units of three-wheelers. Exports for the month stood at 3,425 units.
“We have a balanced Budget from the Finance Minister that emphasises inclusive and sustainable growth, which we hope will bring the much-needed positive sentiment for the economy, including the automotive industry. However, levying a 3 per cent higher duty on sports utility vehicles on the basis of higher ground clearance is disappointing as it slows down further growth and does not provide equal competitive space to all players,” said Pravin Shah, Chief Executive, Automotive Division, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd.
