Hit by the prolonged industry slowdown, automobile manufacturer Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M) is to halt production at its plants for up to three days this month. However, the stoppage in production will not have any adverse impact on availability of vehicles.
This is as part of aligning the production with sales requirements, M&M said in a regulatory filing, adding there was “adequate” inventory to serve the market requirements.
M&M has manufacturing units at Chakan (near Pune), Nashik and Haridwar for its automotive sector.
The Mumbai-based company also informed that Mahindra Vehicle Manufacturers Ltd, a wholly-owned subsidiary, would also observe no production days of three days in May. The unit will shut down its vehicle manufacturing unit at Chakan.
