In its first week of production since restart of the Manesar unit last Tuesday, Maruti Suzuki has made about 436 cars, Managing Director and CEO, Shinzo Nakanishi said on Sunday. This was nearly half the target of 900 for the first week and far below the 1,900 cars the plant made every day across two production lines when at full output.
“We’ll first like to start the Plant B with the manpower available. The second shift should also start by month-end,” M M Singh, COO for Production said.
At present, 95 per cent of supervisors, but only 58 per cent of workers have reported for duty. Production has been slowly ramped up from 60 cars on the first day to about 200 on Saturday.
