Public sector oil and gas exploration company ONGC said on Wednesday that the total crude oil production from its domestic fields has increased marginally to 22.264 million tonnes in fiscal 2014-15.
The production in the previous fiscal was 22.247 million tonnes. “Thus, the continuous decline in production of crude oil over the last seven years has been stopped,” the company said in a statement.
It added that the growth in production has come from ONGC’s Western Offshore fields.
The crude oil production from the Western Offshore fields in fiscal 2014-15 was 14.74 million tonnes, which was 7.5 per cent higher than 13.71 million tonnes in the previous fiscal.
