In order to give its customers a better experience, Maruti Suzuki India (MSIL) has decided to sell the mid-size sedan Ciaz from its 250 Nexa outlets across India from April 1.
The company said with territory mapping, it has evaluated that it will be able to cover 90-95 per cent of places, where it is currently selling Ciaz through traditional outlets.
At present, four products Baleno, Baleno RS, S-Cross and Ignis are sold through the Nexa channel.
Launched in October 2014, Ciaz is one of the successful models from MSIL, having sold more than 1.50 lakh units cumulatively till the end of February through the traditional dealer outlets, which has around 2,000 showrooms across the country.
“Ciaz sales has grown 22 per cent to nearly 60,000 units during April-February (2016-17). In financial year 2016, 54,233 units of Ciaz were sold,” R S Kalsi, Executive Director, Marketing & Sales, Maruti Suzuki India, told here in a select media briefing.
With Ciaz joining Nexa family, the contribution from the premium retail chain is expected to be more than 15 per cent of total sales by end of 2017-18, he said, adding that by 2020, the company targets to achieve 25 per cent of overall sales through Nexa channel, by which new models will also come in. Kalsi also said the existing customers of Ciaz will get the same experience of Nexa customers not only on updates and offers, but also service experiences at workshops.
Smart hybrid option Ciaz will also be the first car at the Nexa outlets, which will be available in the smart hybrid (SHVS) option and the company will also put ‘Smart Hybrid’ as a new logo in the car instead of ‘SHVS’. The Ciaz diesel smart hybrid is one of the most fuel efficient diesel car and by volume, over 60 per cent of its total sales come from smart hybrid, Kalsi added.
Nexa is a premium channel of Maruti Suzuki, which has sold over two lakh cars, since its inception in July 2015.
In the current financial year, Nexa is estimated to clock more than 1.5 lakh units, MSIL said.
