Car market leader Maruti Suzuki India on Thursday said that it sold a total of 83,299 units in July, up 1.3 per cent compared with 82,234 units in July 2012.
However, its exports declined 27.3 per cent to 8,154 units during the month compared with 11,210 units in the corresponding month last year, the company said in a statement.
While the mini segment’s (M800, Alto, A-Star, WagonR) sales grew 16 per cent to 33,587 units last month ( compared with 28,998), the compact segment (Swift, Estilo, Ritz) fell 12 per cent to 13,882 units versus 15,759 units in July last year.
The company's best selling car was Dzire (super compact segment) that grew around 34 per cent to 15,249 units during July against 11,413 units in the same month last year.
Sales of its vans segment (Omni and Eeco) also grew 10 per cent to 7,543 units last month compared with 6,879 units in July last year.
Shares of Maruti were trading at Rs 1,336 on the Bombay Stock Exchange, up 0.67 per cent from the previous close.
