The country's largest passenger car manufacturer Maruti Suzuki India on Thursday reported domestic sales of 1,39,189 units in January, up 4 per cent, compared with 1,33,768 units in the same month last year.
Led by Baleno and Dzire, the compact segment grew around 22 per cent to 67,868 units during the month, compared with 55,817 units in January 2017, the company said in a statement.
Utility vehicle segment grew 27 per cent to 20,693 units last month against 16,313 units in the corresponding month last year.
However, sales of its mini segment declined by 12 per cent year-on-year to 33,316 units in January 2018 against 37,928 units in January 2017.
In the commercial segment, MSIL sold 1,411 units of its Super Carry during last month compared with 166 units in January last year.
