All Central trade unions, backed by the Congress, BJP and Left parties, have sought the immediate intervention of both the Central and Haryana Governments to end the Maruti labour dispute and restore peace in the Gurgaon-Manesar industrial belt.
According to the trade unions, the situation worsened after over 1,400 contractor workers and trainers were refused work when they reported for duty on October 3. “This is an act of vengeance on the part of the management, which is not in conformity with the spirit of Clause 8 of the settlement reached in the presence of the Haryana Labour Minister on September 30," said a joint release.
Stating that no management can deny the basic right of workers to form their own trade union, the trade unions also flayed the dismissal of 10 workers, termination of 5 trainees and suspension of 10 workers.
The workers in Maruti Suzuki and its subsidiaries Suzuki Powertrain and Suzuki Mototcycle are protesting against this.
